The institution was established in the year 2001. The College is a project of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. The college was founded by the late H.H. Dr. Baselios Marthoma Mathews II, the Catholics of the East and Malankara Metropolitan Presently the Chairmanship of the College rests in the able hands of His Holiness Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Didymus I, the Catholics of the East and Malankara Metropolitan. There is a Governing Board with 19 members to look after the management of the College of which H.H. Catholicose is the President. Mr. Zacharia Mani serves as the Director of the college. Prof. Rajan Joseph is the Principal of the College.

The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church has more than 2.5 million members hailing mainly from Kerala and other states of India. The Church now has 17 Arts & Science Colleges and 70 Schools situated mainly in the State of Kerala under its wing. It is the help and support of our members that make such projects possible. Mar Baselios Christian College of Engineering and Technology is the second project of the Church in the field of professional education.
