Innovation and Entrepreneurship Cell

Vision

  • To develop successful entrepreneurs who embody leadership qualities and employ innovative, ethical business practices to achieve a global impact.

Mission

  • To foster and encourage an entrepreneurial culture among students by identifying, training, and motivating them to pursue entrepreneurship.

Objectives

  • To organize Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps and Entrepreneurship Development Programs.
  • To enhance connections between the institution, local industries, R&D centers, and organizations involved in promoting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), including NGOs and other voluntary organizations.
  • To stimulate and advance the development of science and technology-based enterprises and create employment opportunities.
  • To raise awareness about entrepreneurship among students.
  • To instill an entrepreneurial spirit and culture among Science and Engineering graduates and postgraduates.

Functions

  • To organize Entrepreneurship Awareness activities, Entrepreneurship Development Programs, and Faculty Development Programs in the region for the benefit of science and technology professionals.
  • To develop and implement an entrepreneurship development curriculum at various levels, including degree and diploma courses, across the parent institution and other regional institutes.
  • To support and guide prospective entrepreneurs in preparing project reports, securing project approvals, obtaining loans and facilities from support agencies, and providing information on various technologies.
  • To conduct research and surveys for identifying entrepreneurial opportunities.
  • To organize industry visits for prospective entrepreneurs.
  • To provide essential guidance and escort services to trainees for securing approval and executing their projects.
  • To serve as a Regional Information Centre for business opportunities, processes, technologies, and markets by creating and maintaining relevant databases.
  • To offer testing, calibration, quality assurance, design, tool room, pilot plant, and other facilities for entrepreneurs, along with expertise in intellectual property rights and patent searches.
  • To provide advice to struggling enterprises and assist entrepreneurs in their rehabilitation efforts.
  • To conduct skill development training programs aimed at fostering self-employment and facilitating startup ventures.

 

Strategies

  • Establishing a student hub for the development of a technology park.
  • Encourage students to create and develop their own startups.

  • Establish a corpus fund to seed new ventures.

 

Roles & Responsibilities of Coordinator

  • He organizes the regular activities and entrepreneurship awareness programs for the IEDC.
  • He encourages members to organize department-level programs related to the IEDC.
  • He plans the annual activity schedule and ensures smooth execution with the assistance of members and the student coordinator.
  • He provides instructions and guidelines to committee members for organizing all annual activities according to a well-defined schedule.
  • He holds meetings twice a year to review previous programs and discuss plans for upcoming ones.
  • He supervises the working of IEDC volunteers.
  • He maintains the necessary files.
  • He coordinates with officials from district and state-level entrepreneurship departments regarding IEDC projects and activities.
  • He arranges meetings for the IEDC committee in consultation with the Principal and also attends external meetings related to entrepreneurship programs.
  • He is responsible for managing the equipment and supplies purchased with IEDC funds and transfers responsibility for these items to his or her successor at the end of the tenure.
